Our story

35 years at home in the Loire Valley

We are a family of four who have called this region home for 35 years. With our two little girls, aged 3 and 5, we experience the Loire every day, and Loire Secrets grew from a simple wish: to share the places, rhythms and local details that never make it into standard travel guides.

A local life

A family story shaped by the Loire

We have watched the seasons move across the vineyards, seen spring return to the village markets and learned which corners of the valley feel most beautiful when the day begins or gently winds down.

The Loire is woven into our family life. It means favourite growers, market rituals, bike rides we come back to again and again, and castles we keep returning to because they still move us.

Loire Secrets was born from that lived-in knowledge. We wanted to write about the region with warmth, precision and the honesty of people who belong here.

Why Loire Secrets?

Because the most meaningful trips happen between the highlights

We love the iconic chateaux, of course. But we also care about the timing, the quieter village, the right family stop for lunch, the winemaker who still takes time to explain a bottle properly and the easy detour that changes a whole day.

01

Beyond the postcard

We do not just point to the must-sees. We try to show what makes the Loire feel lived-in and memorable.

02

Truly local finds

Our recommendations mix castles, vineyards, markets, food stops and quieter corners we would happily share with friends.

03

A wider editorial view

We see the Loire as a whole landscape: heritage, wine, food, village life, nature and family rhythm all belong together.

04

Advice that works in real life

We favour clear, practical ideas that help your days feel generous rather than overplanned.

The Loire with our girls

Seeing the valley through the eyes of a young family

Travelling with children aged 3 and 5 changes everything in the best possible way. It makes us notice where there is shade, where a visit stays magical, where a garden invites running and where a family day actually feels easy.

That is why we often talk about Ussé, our Sleeping Beauty castle, about child-friendly activities, gentle cycling ideas, snack stops that save the afternoon and the places that genuinely light up small faces.
